Google Video
I found that the Google video that we watched in class was very interesting. It was about Marissa Mayer talking to developers about being successful in the Google community. This consisted of several things like talking to users, using numbers to help, keeping things simple, and even using every ounce of imagination that we have. She then continued to give details and examples of these tactics. All of this was very interested, but it also made clear sense why these things were good for business.

Blogging Assignment #8
MIT Video
Professor Anant Agarwal starts off his class by explaining how to make things more efficient. Small things making big things is normally more efficient than just one really big thing. He gives a few examples then concludes with processors have moved to this where instead of one big processor, the technology today is several small processors. He then goes into why they are better, which is small processors don't have dimishing returns or hit power walls.

Blogging Assignment #7
MIT Video
The video with John Chambers is all about his past and future work at Cisco. He states most of the successes of Cisco and how well they have done in the past. In the 1990's he predicted that the networks would transform the world and make everything like communication easier. His next prediction is that Web 2.0 would be the next step in changing the way the world works. He describes this by saying "The internet content will find me; I will not search for it." Web 2.0 will improve collaboration, business processes, and productivity. Trusting John Chambers and Cisco is probably a safe bet considering that they have accelerated in the business world for several year.

Blogging Assignment #4
Similar to ChaCha
KGB.com is exactly like ChaCha. The website allows to type in any question that you want and it will be answered in a matter of no time. You also have the option, like ChaCha, to setup a mobile phone where you can text any question and the answer will be texted back to you.
Similar to Cuil
Google to me is similar to Cuil.com. Google also offers the ability to have the suggestion drop when typing out a search in the search box. Google also offers other suggestions for the search much like Cuil.com. One thing that Google doesn't do however, is offer the different categories on the search like Cuil.com, however, I don't find that as a tremendous strength.
Similar to Zillow
Yahoo Real Estate is very similar to Zillow.com. It gives estimates of the house you are searching along with other houses in the area. However, I couldn't find any way to search specific details like how many bedrooms, bathrooms, etc. that Zillow.com offered. So even though they were both similar, I still believe Zillow.com was superior.

Blogging Assignment #3
Innovation in the Age of Mass Collaboration
I think the step that CEO Rob McEwen made was very smart but also very risky. It worked out well for him, but when the company was going down, anything could have happened. Since it worked out for him, he is looked as a hero and a smart decision. If it failed however, the criticism would have been much worse than the glory he received. Even though other companies have tried out the open source idea, I still believe the risk outweighed the benefit.
Even though I do believe this to be a risky decision, the fact the mass collaberation is a powerful tool is also proven here. A weak company was turned into a giant by simply sharing their problem and asking for help from anyone who wanted to listen and anyone who wanted to gain the reward. Many companies like Ebay and Amazon are already reaping the benefits of mass collaberation and many other businesses, despite how traditional is it, should be looked into.
Peer Innovation and Production
I found it very interesting that a company like IBM, who probably had how things are done set in stone, would try to venture out into the open source market. I also thougt it was really cool for Daniel Frye to "unplug everyone from the network" of what they were used to. To make them learn Linux by using Linux constantly. This made IBM have no choice but to learn how to use it and how to fix any probelms had arrised. Once they became professional of the Linux system, they would be able to implement it and even produce software for the operating system. This way IBM was making money off of something that people using Linux wanted for free. It also made the customer happy to pay the price for the software because seeing software compatible for the free operating system would be very convenient for the users.
